God is a Girl on the TTC
The pews of the crowded subway car
Her smile a call to prayer
Her laughter a red-lipped hymn
She parts the sea of rush hour bodies
To conjure the miracle of an empty seat
And for a moment, how easy it is to believe
In something so beautiful
When she leaves, it is with her heels in hand
Feet bare against the subway plpatform
Unafraid of broken glass, of getting her feet a little dirty
She is the kind of girl who does not run for the train
Because she knows her time is coming
She knows what is meant for her will not pass her by
She is the kind of girl who holds the door on the TTC
Because she knows that this one is for you
